Positive Behaviour

Within the Whiteheath Family children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own behaviour and respect one another.

Positive Behaviour
Good behaviour is necessary for a happy, well-regulated school, where staff and children respect each other and effective learning and teaching can take place. We wish each of our children to learn to be kind, helpful, understanding and tolerant of others. We also encourage them to show self-discipline, a sense of responsibility and self-confidence.

We believe that good behaviour is about helping children to take responsibility. We help children to achieve this by setting the boundaries of acceptable behaviour. They are encouraged to think of others in their behaviour in the classroom, corridors and playground. Social behaviour is encouraged and rewarded, whilst anti-social behaviour is unacceptable. Children in Year 2 have the opportunities of taking on pastoral roles e.g. making sure children have a friend to play with.

If rules are not respected, a range of sanctions has been agreed with the staff and children. Parental/carer involvement would be sought immediately if the child’s behaviour gave serious cause for concern.

Good behaviour is always rewarded in various ways.

Excellent attendance is acknowledged and rewarded each term.
